Things to Do

Palo Alto

There are lots of fun things to do in Palo Alto. Unless otherwise noted, everything is within a 1-mile walk of the hotel. Here are a few of our favorites:

[Outside]   [Shopping]   [Other Fun Stuff]

Go for a Bike Ride

Rent a bike at the Palo Alto Bikestation (located at the train station), and ride down Bike Boulevard (Bryant Street) or out into the hills.

Take a Walking Tour of Palo Alto's Old Neighborhoods

The streets south of Downtown offer some fabulous examples of new and old architecture. Head south on Waverly Street and wander around the neighborhoods.

Stop and Smell the Roses

Check out Elizabeth Gamble Garden Center located at 1431 Waverly Street. Even in March the gardens are gorgeous.

Drive to the Coast/Check out the Surf

From Palo Alto, take Sand Hill Road to 280 North. Exit Hwy 92 West and follow this to Half Moon Bay, a quaint little town with shops, restaurants, and galleries. After a trip through town, head north on Hwy 1 to Princeton-by-the-Sea, turn left and drive out to the very land's end (drive to the radar dish) to reach Pillar Point to see Mavericks. If you're lucky, the surf will be high and you'll catch some crazy people surfing the largest, most dangerous waves around.

Take the Kids to the Park

There's a great little park located at the corner of Waverly and Everett, about a 3/4 mile walk from the Sheraton. It has a playground, a small field and a community garden.

Take a Hike

Join us for a hike at Huddart Park on Friday, or take a 1 1/2 hour car trip to Big Basin in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Big Basin is home to fabulous redwood forests, and has a great visit center.
